Frequently Asked Questions Q. Why is Pureflow Kit a better alternative than bottled water?A. Pureflow Filter is more convenient than bottled water. Pureflow eliminates the hassle of hauling large bottles of water from the supermarket or waiting for delivered water. Pureflow filtered water costs less per gallon than bottled water. Q. How long do the filters last? A. 2,500 gallons - approximately 6 months for the Standard, Lead Reduction and Flouride Reduction filters. 5,000 gallons for the 20" Commercial Use filter. Q. Will the Pureflow Kit remove bad taste and odor? A. Yes. The Pureflow Filter improves taste by reducing chlorine, bad taste and odour. Q. What are the filters made of? A. The Standard Pureflow Kit is supplied with a GAC Series Granular Activated Carbon Cartridge for improved taste and odour reduction. The filter is manufactured By Ametek in the USA. The filter cartridge is designed for effective reduction of unwanted taste and odour, such as chlorine. They are engineered to allow water to enter one end and pass through the entire bed of carbon before exiting. This allows water to be in contact with the carbon for a maximum length of time to ensuring maximum absorption. A 20 micron post filter is incorporated to reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles. Q. Do the filters reduce water pressure? A. Water will flow from all units at the rate of approx 2.5 liters per minute at a pressure of 60 psi. Pressure will reduce slightly when the filter requires replacement. Q. Can you run hot water through the filters? A. No! Filter only cold water. Running hot water through the filters will quickly decrease the effectiveness of the filter. Q. Will I damage my f filter if I don't run water through it for a period of time? A. No. However, if the filter has not been used for a number of days, flush the filter well by running cold water through it for 3 minutes to reactivate the media in the filter. Q. How do the units affect fluoride? A. The Standard Pureflow Water Filters do not signifigantly reduce the level of fluoride in the water source. We supply a special flouride reduction filter which uses a specially designed fine mesh activated alumina in addition to the granular activated carbon to reduce flouride significantly, as well as reducing chlorine and odour and improving the taste of your water . Q. Will the filters remove bacteria or viruses? A. Do not use these products with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Q. Will the Pureflow Water Filters soften water? A. No. Filter cartridges do not contain any softening agents that have a softening effect on water. Try the ECOFLOW H2FLOW available through this website! |
